Oasis fans are being offered a shot at free lasagna by Prezzo this summer in recognition of the band’s reunion.
The first two tables at any chain who can confidently belt out a verse of the iconic Definitely Maybe track Digsy’s Dinner will be rewarded with the Italian classic mentioned throughout the song.
The iconic Britpop band have thirteen dates remaining on the first UK leg of their tour before they take their comeback to international waters.
Prezzo Marketing Director Naddy Onions said: “Digsy’s Dinner is one of those tracks that makes you hungry just listening to it, and with lasagna being the key theme in this famous song, we just had to mark the return of the band to the home of the Italian classics.”
There are nine chains within the London area, including one in Harrow only a stone’s throw – three stops on the Metropolitan Line – away from Wembley Stadium, where the band will be performing five gigs from 25 July to 3 August.
Fergus Bentley, 28, is an associate director at an equity firm and Oasis superfan with tickets to see the band at one of their extra dates on 27 September.
Asked if he was keen to take Prezzo up on their challenge, he said: “Maybe. I’m not a terrible singer, but I worry that other people in the restaurant might think I’ve lost it!
“Although I do love lasagna.”
Oasis’ opening salvo in Cardiff last week was met with rave reviews, suggesting that the band is back to their scintillating best.
Fans and critics alike praised their sound and energy, with The independent’s Mark Beaumont claiming the band were the best they’ve been since 1996.
The shows came under criticism when they went on sale last autumn, as long online queues, Ticketmaster glitches and dynamic pricing left many fans frustrated.
But the band were back to their box office best, with Liam even quipping: “You having a good time, yeah? Was it worth the £40,000 you paid for the ticket?”
Prezzo’s offer runs every day from now until the final UK gig on 28 September for Oasis fans.
Conditions of the offer can be found here.
