Hundreds gathered on Hampstead Heath on 28 June to fly kites and watch professional displays at this year’s annual kite festival.
The event, organised by the Kite Society of Great Britain, marked the sixth year of celebrating a 150-year-old law which protects the heath from construction.
Kiting enthusiasts from across the country battled gusty conditions on Parliament Hill as they flew everything from a giant pair of trousers to an inflatable clown.
Tim Rohn, a kiter from Bournemouth who pilots two giant dragons, first learnt to fly kites on the heath at the age of nine.
He told The Londoners: “There’s no way you can put a dragon up anywhere in the country without causing a crowd.
“I’ve had people walking three to four miles to find out what the hell they are in the sky.”
