Mayor’s Picnic in the Park promises fun for Hillingdon residents

Hillingdon residents can anticipate a day of community celebration and entertainment at Barra Hall Park in Hayes.

The Mayor of Hillingdon, Cllr Colleen Sullivan, has announced the eagerly awaited Picnic in the Park event is set for Saturday, June 29th, from midday until 5pm.

Organized by Hillingdon Council, the free event aims to bring together residents of all ages for an afternoon of live music, engaging performances, and a variety of activities.

Sullivan said: “I’m thrilled to be hosting this year’s Picnic in the Park. Picnics are a quintessential part of summer, and I can’t wait to bring the community together to indulge in some good food, free entertainment, and celebrate the vibrant spirit of our borough.”

Among the highlights are performances by the Hillingdon Music Service brass, steel, and junior bands, along with captivating acts from Queensmead School in Ruislip, Barnhill Community High School in Hayes, and the Candy Girls.

In addition to the musical performances, attendees can expect a range of sports activities, arts and crafts, face painting, and inflatable fun to keep the whole family entertained.

Those attending are encouraged to bring along their own picnic baskets and blankets to fully enjoy the festivities.

Representatives from various community organizations, including family hubs, libraries, children’s centers, and adult learning teams, will be on hand to offer additional activities and information to enrich the experience for visitors.

Barra Hall Park itself provides an idyllic setting for the event, boasting 20 acres of green space, ornamental lawns, a children’s playground, and a multi-use games area for exploration and enjoyment.

With its blend of music, activities, and community engagement, the Mayor’s Picnic in the Park promises to be a highlight of the summer calendar for Hillingdon residents, offering a day of relaxation, entertainment, and celebration amidst the scenic beauty of Barra Hall Park.
