WATCH: Arpita Singh at the Serpentine: Six decades of work in a landmark London exhibition

One of India’s most influential modern artists was celebrated in a major exhibition at London’s Serpentine Gallery.

Remembering brings together more than six decades of work by Arpita Singh, spanning painting, drawing and textile, in her first solo exhibition outside of India.

The show opened on 20 March 2025 and closed on 27 July 2025.

Though the exhibition has now closed at the Serpentine, Singh’s work is still available to view in the Victoria and Albert Museum.

The exhibition explores memory, everyday life and women’s experiences, using Singh’s distinctive bold colours and layered imagery to reflect both personal stories and wider social change.

The NW Londoner spoke to visitors, who offered their take on the artwork and the artist.
