Competitors from around the world descended upon Whetstone in North London last week for the third inaugural HOP London Padel Open.
Between the 21st and 25th May, top players from Spain, France, the UK, and others, battled it out for a piece of the £10,000 prize fund, and those all-important ranking points on the International Padel Federation (FIP) tour.
The women’s competition was won by the French pairing of Ginier Barbier and Touly, whilst Spanish 19-year-olds, Romera Barcelo and Gonzalez took the men’s trophy.
HOP co-founder John Leach said: “Padel’s such a fun sport, and it’s still so new in the UK so it’s really important for us to showcase what a great sport it is.”
Padel is one of the fastest-growing sports both across the world, with the padel industry projected to more than double between 2024 and 2031, from USD 204 million to 447 million.
