NFL franchises the New York Jets and Chicago Bears have teamed up to bring NFL Girls Flag Football to the UK.
Twelve teams of 12-14 year-old girls competed for the inaugural championship on a sunny May afternoon Ealing’s Trailfinders Sports Club equipped in brand new Nike kits.
The non-contact form of American Football Flag football is one of the fastest growing sports in both the US and the UK.
It is praised for being highly accessible and easy to understand, requiring just a ball and some belts to play.
Off-field the girls, their family and friends, were treated to an American style BBQ with a DJ, food, hair braiding and NFL style face painting.
The title was won by Ealing Fields School, from the Jets Conference.
They will now have the opportunity to play against a girls flag football team from Germany at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, around the NFL London Games in October.
